Weigh-In Friday And Going To Cosmetology School

Good morning everyone, time for my weight-loss report......I lost 2.5 pounds last week, yes!!!!! Maybe I should run a 5K every weekend, lol!!!!!! Yesterday, I tried on all the clothes in my closet and they ALL fit, even the shirts that were too tight around the middle were loose, that has not happened for a long time...LOVE IT!!!!

I think I am hooked on running and I can't believe I am saying that. I have ran everyday since the 5K last Saturday, my daughter Alyssa is THRILLED!!!! There was a time when I would have rather taken a beating then run!!!! It is nice to realize that I am thinking in a much healthier way and I believe that will be the KEY to my SUCCESS and also the KEY that will keep the weight off and keep me runnin!!!

I told you in my last post that I have set some goals.....well, time to tell you what they are. On Wednesday, one of those goals was realized....I PASSED the Accuplacer test, I am officially accepted into Cosmetology School, SO EXCITED!!!!!! I had sent in my application and also had my high-school transcripts transferred in February but this Accuplacer test had to be taken and passed to be fully accepted. I was horrified, I have been out of school for 33 do I study for this??????

This test had everything from reading comprehension, sentence structure, and Math. After months of being overwhelmed by the thought of this test (I even canceled one of my test appointments 2 weeks ago because I was so clueless and was having a brain freeze) and feeling like this test was a HUGE road block, I knew I had to get serious and plow through it!!!! I studied my little heart out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, I even had a friend of Alyssa's tutor me in math last weekend while at the 5K...poor kid....thanks Flynndog, I owe you a lifetime of FREE haircuts!!!!:)

I took that spirit it took for me to run that 5K last weekend.....said a prayer to Jesus and showed up at the school for my appointment at 1pm on Wednesday. It took 31/2 hour for me to finish it....a couple times I thought my head was going to blow off my shoulders...but I DID IT...I PASSED!!!!! And my scores were way over what is required to get into the Cosmetology program....I was shocked!!!!! But, (yes there is a but) because I procrastinated taking this test, I am now on a waiting list for the Fall semester. If I had taken the test in February I would have avoided the waiting list and been a sure in. This little incident has taught me a good lesson...believe in myself...don't be afraid to fail JUST DO IT!!!!

But there is hope, because I am at the top of the waiting list and it is early yet, I could still start this Fall because of people dropping out before the Fall semester begins. But FOR SURE I can start in January so either way...I AM ON MY WAY. Could you guys all say a prayer please that I can get in this Fall, I would greatly appreciated it, I know there is power in prayer!!!!

So next week is my 50th birthday and I am on my way to Cosmetology School.....TOO COOL!!!!! I wanted to go to Cosmetology school when I was 18...but instead I got married and had my 3 beautiful awesome kids. They are all grown up now and are my biggest fans along with my husband of course. So now at age 50 I'm heading toward my Cosmetology dream. I guess that just goes to show're never to old to follow your dreams. I will still be making my prim dolls and of course I will NEVER lose my passion for sewing. My goal is to make myself a HOT LITTLE BLACK DRESS as soon as I lose another 15 pounds.....stay tuned.

Well, that's it for now.....have a BLESSED and Happy Mother's Day everyone.....Rhonda

You can do it. I went back to school at the age of 49 years and 10 months. I received my undergrad degree, then my masters and became a speech therapist at age 55! I love my job and wish I hadn't waited so long to go back to school. I'm not gonna lie, it was tough at times, but if you have the desire you will do it! Good luck to you!
